Teen Buys Old Camcorder at Yard Sale — Finds 1994 Tape That Solves Missing Person Case

A 17-year-old in Oregon just made what might be the craziest yard sale find of the decade — and police are calling it a “breakthrough in a 30-year-old mystery.”

Liam Roberts was browsing a neighborhood yard sale when he picked up a dusty 90s-era camcorder for $5. When he got home and charged it up, he found a tape still inside.

“I just wanted to see if it worked,” Liam said. “But then the video started… and I realized this wasn’t just a home movie.”

The footage, dated August 13, 1994, shows a man and woman hiking in what appears to be the Cascade Mountains — but then it cuts abruptly to a shaky shot of a campfire… and the woman disappears from frame. The rest of the tape is disturbing, with strange symbols drawn in dirt, muffled voices in the background, and a man whispering, “She’s not coming back.”

Liam turned the footage in to local authorities, and investigators have now linked it to a cold case involving a missing hiker named Rebecca Mills, last seen in 1994 — the same week the video was recorded.

“We believe this tape could hold vital evidence,” said Detective Karen Elo. “It’s surreal that it surfaced after all this time.”

TikTok sleuths are already analyzing the footage, claiming to spot hidden figures in the background and decoding the dirt symbols.

The FBI has reportedly joined the investigation.
